The Characteristics of Love

This podcast is the fourth in a series on the Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23 with the focus on the characteristics of love that are found in 1 Corinthians 13. The chapter is broken down into the following three main parts.

*1 Corinthians 13:1-3 - The superiority of love. It is greater than all spiritual gifts because without it the gifts are empty and so are we.

*1 Corinthians 13:4-7 - The characteristics of love. It is greater than all spiritual gifts because it is selfless.

*1 Corinthians 13:8-13 - The permanence of love. It is greater than all spiritual gifts because it never ends.

Most of this podcast is focuses on the characteristics of love found in verses 4-7. There are 15 characteristics listed here by Paul and he breaks them down as follows.

*Characteristics 1-2 - These two characteristics (patience and kindness) are essentially what love is.

*Characteristics 3-10 - The characteristics starting with does not envy down to does not rejoice in iniquity lists out all the things that love does not.

*Characteristic 11 - This characteristic is what love does instead.

*Characteristics 12-15 - These characteristics explain how love always acts.

*Ephesians 3:14-21 - This is a prayer Paul had for the church at Ephesus. A key portion of this is how we should be rooted and grounded in love.
